You got it but I would suggest a possible change. Going down through Boone takes forever. Your way has lots of great roads and you get lots of the BRP...but if you want to freeway a little more and cut down on the time on the second day....and see some extra stuff consider this.......421/The snake is two sections...the first section is north of Shady Valley...then it drops down into the valley then the second section is south of there a couple of miles. Just past the general store. Run the southern part then come back and grab 91 right at the store. Good road for quite awhile. Then slab 26 and 40 to Maggie Valley and hit the motorcycle museum there then cut across a short section of the BRP to Cherokee, drop down 74 then over.

The museum is pretty awesome if you have not seen it.

id love to take that route down, but ill probably have to slab it, ill have 3 days max to go down and back.

You are near Columbus right? Consider 62 to Lexington then slab it. 62 adds about 30 minutes to the total time and is better than the slab with the added bonus you dont have to go through Cincy. I hate riding my bike through Cincy. Some very cool horse farms as you approach Lexington.

I also highly suggest this!! 62 to Lexington is pretty scenic, been that way a few times but always in a car

I talked to Carol last night and got a commitment for a rate of $50 per night (plus 11% tax) for the week of June 3 through the 10th. She said it was less than an hour's drive to Fontana's.

I have been told this is a very clean stay, has a donut shop next door that also serves meals. I was told there is a nice restaurant within walking distance.

I talked to the little lady and we are going to try and make it, more toward the end of the week, on thru Sat. night.

maggie valley is pretty much run down. looks like it used to be something but, no longer. many out of business signs and abandon buildings.

You'd e better off in Robbinsville or hell even Gatlinburg/pigeon forge if you don't care about being an hour away. Rode up to pigeon forge from Fontana to meet a friend for lunch back in Septemer and it was a little more than an hour. They were doing construction or it woulda been shorter

Gatlingburg is crazy expensive. Take a look at the Alcoa area near the Knoxville airport. Tons of cheap hotels and some real nice ones. I always stay at the Jameson Inn. Very biker friendly...three decent restaurants withing crawling distance. Quick hop across foothills parkway then the dragon. Robbinsville is certainly a very good choice for being close, but it is a dry town.

yea were trailering for sure. Matt has to be back Sunday and Pauly can only get off Thurs and Fri so I think he is gonna end up coming with us too

Its been about 10 years since we were in the Smokeys, didn't know MV was run down.

3 nights at Creekside saves me nearly $150 over Fontana, so its a no brainer, besides we don't mind a nice ride down thataways....$50/night is pretty good rates. But nothing is reserved yet. Will check out some of the closer burgs first. Though we're figuring on riding back up the BRP if things work out, so we'd be on the right side of the mts for that.

We're riding down, heck, that's half the fun.

As far as Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge goes, we're staying clear of those joints. Way too commercialized and way way too many cages, mostly stop n go traffic with most of it being stopped. lol

You got a trailer so you don't have to ride your bike? :wtf:

I would rather not ride at all than have to slab it. Time constraints make a multiple day ride down and back not doable. Therefore I have the trailer for such occasions
